A house has exploded and erupted into flames in a massive blast captured on CCTV leaving one dead.

Emergency services rushed to the residence in San Francisco's Sunset District in California, US, at around 9.20am local time (5.20pm UK time) and extinguished the fire on February 9.

Investigators sifted through the rubble before discovering evidence of a possible illegal narcotics manufacturing lab.

Footage from surveillance cameras at the location shows the infrastructure of the building scrambling and bursting into flames and a massive plume of smoke spreading in the air after the explosion.

The body of a disabled woman, who hasn't been identified, was also recovered from the debris.
