EastEnders fans 'work out' Stacey Slater's link to Christmas murder victim
EastEnders viewers were treated to a flash forward scene earlier this year that revealed a mystery resident will die on Christmas Day and with Stacey Slater being one of those standing over the dead body, the stalwart may find herself embroiled in another murder.
Suki Panesar, Denise Fox, Linda Carter, Sharon Watts, Stacey and Kathy Beale all featured in the special clip and were shown next to the dead body.
Some fans predict Stacey's current SecretCam storyline will be linked to the Christmas day murder as the stalwart agreed in Thursday's episode to deal with one client directly after Lily announced she wanted to quit school due to being bullied over her mother's racy actions.
One BBC soap viewer shared a theory about the identity of Stacey's mystery client and "worked out" the Slater stalwart is being set up for a stalker storyline.
Writing in an EastEnders forum, one Reddit user wrote: "I think Mr. Hawthorne (Freddie's old teacher who has moved to Walford) is going to be revealed as Stacey's private OF client. I believe we are being set up for a stalker/obsessed fan storyline for Stacey."
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesThe fan continued: "It seems like each of the six has their individual story building to a climax that is going to explode sometime before Christmas. My prediction is around the time Lily is due to give birth, the stalker storyline will also reach a boiling point and put the Slaters in some sort of peril/turn up the tension in some way.
"This adds Hawthorne to the Christmas corpse suspect list (but I pray it's someone more interesting than him)."
Another agreed: "I like this theory a lot, good detective work! Soaps very often have similar stories running at the same time/not long after. Corrie just had Daisies stalking storyline so would make sense for EE to want to do a similar story too." (sic)
Meanwhile, EastEnders executive producer Chris Clenshaw has teased the new Knight family may have a role to play in the Christmas murder mystery.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Chris addressed the figure of the knight in The Vic that featured in the flash forward clip: "Now the knight in shining armour makes sense to everyone. When we shot that scene, the Knights weren’t in the scripts so everyone was speculating."
