Sam Smith has cancelled the rest of their UK tour after following Wednesday night's show in Manchester being unexpectedly cut short.

The shows set to take place in Birmingham and Glasgow have been cancelled as well as the Manchester gig.

It comes after the Unholy hitmaker left the stage at the AO Arena in Manchester just four songs in to the set.

It left fans wondering what had happened, with many suspecting a power cut or technical issue had occurred.

Sam took to his social media a few hours later to apologise to the fans and explained the reason for the early finish.

They said there had been an issue with their voice and couldn't get it "back in gear" after exiting the stage.

The chart-topper has announced the further shows have "regrettably" been cancelled.

Those who had tickets to any of the three shows are going to be offered a refund.

They will need to go back to the point of purchase to claim their refund for the Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow dates.

Sam was due to perform in Glasgow on May 25 and in Birmingham on May 27.

It appears the dates won't be rescheduled for the time being as refunds are being made.

The singer has a jam-packed schedule for the coming months, as the tour travels across Europe and the United States.

The Gloria tour ends in New Zealand in November this year.

In a statement Sam said: "Due to vocal issues during last night's Manchester performance, regrettably we will be cancelling the rescheduled Birmingham and Glasgow Sam Smith Shows.

"Refunds will be available at point of purchase for all three dates; Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow.

"If they take some rest they will be able to perform again."

Sam added: "I'm so sorry [broken heart emoji."

One concert goer took to social media to slam Sam for leaving the stage so suddenly - claiming she was left anxious and scared in the dark with her 13-year-old daughter, not knowing what was going on.

Sam even teased Madonna would be joining them at the Manchester Arena, but left the stage after performing just four songs for an excited crowd, with it being claimed one of their backup singer had been spotted crying while performing.

Online ticketing platform Skiddle has offered advice to fans who are impacted by the cancelled shows.

Lisa Braithwaite, music expert at Skiddle said: "The news of Sam Smith abandoning of their UK Gloria Tour, due to vocal difficulties, comes after admitting they had been fighting a virus in recent weeks.

“It's a worrying period for the industry, with the knock-on effects of these cancellations being felt not only by the fans themselves but the venues and the dedicated teams of staff who operate them.

"It has been reported that refunds for cancelled shows have been notoriously hard to come by. If you have a ticket and seek a refund, our guidance would be to check any advice posted by your ticket provider online and to speak with them directly, to find out what your options are."

Sam's original statement reads: "I don't know what to say honestly. I fought off a virus a few weeks ago and since then we have travelled across Europe and had such incredible shows.

"Today in soundcheck I felt fine and was so excited to give Manchester an amazing show tonight, with a special surprise guest at the end."

The star continued: "During my third song, I noticed something wrong with my voice. I prayed it was just my voice waking up for the show but into the fourth song I could feel something was really wrong.

"I came off stage and have tried everything to get my voice back in gear but it won't. I am honestly heartbroken I couldn't finish the show tonight for you all. I love you all. I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry".
