Christine Lampard couldn't resist making a cheeky swipe at her husband Frank Lampard’s football managing career as she stepped in to host Lorraine on Wednesday morning.

The TV presenter was standing in for Lorraine Kelly during half term and spoke with entertainment reporter Scarlette Douglas in the ITV studio about the TV shows hitting screens in coming months.

Their chat turned to Ted Lasso, which is returning to Apple TV+ screens next month for its third season.

The sports comedy will see Ted (Jason Sudeikis) deal with pressures at work, as the newly-promoted AFC Richmond faces Premier League relegation.

Scarlette noted the series is set to pick up where the second instalment left off last year, with AFC Richmond now facing ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the league.

Scarlette said: “So it’s about how he deals with that, his work, his family life, all of it,” before then asking: “Shall we have a look at a clip?”

Smiling at the cameras, Christine then quipped: “I don’t need to, I live it,” in an apparent reference to husband Frank, who she married in December 2015.

It comes after Everton sacked Frank as manager of the club, after he had been in the job for less than a year.

The former Chelsea boss was appointed at Goodison Park at the end of January 2022, and although he helped the club avoid the drop last season, he leaves Everton now in a relegation battle.

In a statement, the Merseyside club said: "Everyone at Everton would like to thank Frank and his coaching staff for their service during what has been a challenging 12 months.

"Frank and his team's commitment and dedication have been exemplary throughout their time at the club, but recent results and the current league position meant this difficult decision had to be taken. We wish Frank and all his backroom team well for their future in the game.

"The club has started the process to secure a new manager and will provide updates on the appointment in due course."

Christine gave ITV viewers an insight into her Valentine’s Day plans with husband Frank during an episode of Lorraine earlier this week.

Speaking with entertainment reporter Ross King about her romantic plans, she said: “We have absolutely nothing planned if I'm being completely honest,” leaving Ross in stitches.

She then quickly added: “But, look, it’s early in the morning. I might go back, he might have a little surprise for me. Who knows? Possibly.”
