Cannes chaos as model dragged from red carpet after coating herself in 'blood'

There was chaos at Cannes after a model threw bags of 'blood' over herself before dragged off the red carpet.

The protestor, who was dressed in a blue and yellow dress, smiled serenely at the screening of Acide before pulling two bags of liquid out of her cleavage and covering herself with it.

As the sticky red 'blood' slowly dripped down her dress, a beefy security guard quickly escorted the model off the premises - presumably in a bid to keep the peace.

But it would seem peace is what the peformer was protesting about with many fans thinking she was defending Ukraine after its Russian invasion.

One viewer shared the clip on Twitter, as another mused: "I didn’t have Katy Perry lookalike dressed in a Ukrainian flag spilling fake blood on herself on my bingo card today. Dammit, I never win these things."

There's always high drama at Cannes, usually in the form of celebrities' outlandish outfits.

This year, Kanye West's ex Julia Fox took the title for 'most out there dress' when she rocked up at an event for the Art of Elysium at the festival on Sunday.

The actress, 33 - who rose to fame in the film Uncut Gems (2019)- sported a see-through top that left little to the imagination as she showcased her incredible physique.

Julia accompanied the unusual attire with an extravagant white skirt, which featured two tiers and mega volume as it billowed across the carpet at the event.

Another celebrity who got tongues wagging at Cannes was Dame Helen Mirren.

She decided to ditch her signature platinum bob in favour of an electric blue up-do.

The Queen star looked striking as she sashayed along the red carpet in a beautiful blue frock - with matching nail polish - as she arrived at the star-studded bash in France.

The star has previously spoken about vowing to change beauty standards for older women, insisting her generation has been hamstrung by ageism for 'far too long.'

She told Grazia in 2019: "It's extremely annoying to women of my generation and others following mine to have beauty products sold on a 15-year-old face."

Helen continued: 'I don’t want to die young, so I'm going to get old! I think to stay engaged in life, to stay curious about life, to stay with a sense of learning about life, constantly."
