Emotn's N1 is a great projector suited for different events and occasions
There isn’t a short supply of projectors, however, it can be tricky to find one that comes built with your favourite streaming apps such as Netflix or Amazon Prime.
From my experience with projectors, is that they usually require external peripherals, such as the Fire Stick to get them up and running which will rack up the overall costs.
This is why the announcement of Emotn’s N1 projector was very intriguing, as it has been officially licensed by Netflix, meaning amongst other apps it comes built-in the projector.
Measuring 28.2 x 28.2 x 25.1 cm and weighing 3.67kg the N1 is a very compact projector, that's a little bit heavier and bigger than many other projectors we have looked at.
The N1 was designed for home use but its size and weight mean it can double up as your portable projector to be used at events or different occasions.

Emotn lunched their new Netflix projector, the N1 (Emotn)It will still need to be plugged into a power source to work, so it can’t really be used during outdoor activities unless you have a massive portable battery.
The projector is housed in a very tough plastic that not only feels durable and robust but looks great in its white colour scheme. The concave lens is protected by a shiny black plastic with a TOF sensor at the top.
It has ventilation grills at both ends that help to keep it cool at all times. The input connections can be found at the back, on top of the back ventilation, with the adjustable kickstand and PTZ bracket socket at the bottom of the device.
There’s only one button situated at the top, which controls the power of the projector. Everything else is controlled via the remote, which is great but it would’ve been nice if there were a few more on the projector itself.
The N1’s overall design is easy on the eyes, with its contemporary aesthetic allowing it to be a great addition to your home decor.
Setting up the N1 is very simple as it will automatically adjust the focus and keystone depending on the location of the projector.

Another great feature is that the N1 will flip the image to match how you have set it up, so for instance, if it's behind the projector screen the image will be mirrored to match its location. This is a great feature that just increases its versatility.
The N1 has a fair amount of power which is great for its price range. It can deliver up to 500 ANSI lumens while projecting full HD resolution at up to 120 inches.
500 ANSI lumens is pretty decent but I have found with other projectors that the picture quality can look a little washed out when used in well-lit areas.

However, that being said I found that for a 500 ANSI Lumens projector the N1 had exceptional picture quality that was sharp and crisp when testing in different environments, even during a bright day.
The projector does not come with a native 4K resolution which might disappoint some, however, it is built with Full 1080P with HDR 10 and HLG technology.
The N1 comes built with 5W speakers (Emotn)I was very impressed with the richness and vibrancy of the colour when watching Blu-ray movies or playing games. It has incredible contrast with the true blacks and whites.
I was also very impressed with the native setting on SDR content, as normally HD projectors really struggle to display true SDR colours.
The N1 will allow you to control your picture quality by selecting from various different modes which include Standard, Cinema, Sport, Vivid and Custom.
My go-to modes for films and gaming were Vivid and Cinema which really elevated the overall viewing experience. But I did experiment with the custom settings, which really grant you full authority over how your picture looks.
You can control the Brightness, Gamma, Sharpness, and Hue to name a few. I was very impressed with how detailed and intuitive the picture customisation is.
The N1 may be licensed by Netflix but it comes built with YouTube, Youtube Kids, Prime Video, Netrange and TikiLive.
The N1 can be used in a variety of locations (Emotn)Other apps such as Apple TV or Disney Plus aren’t included however the projector will allow you to cast from apps on your phone or share its screen.
All of these built-in apps and wireless connections mean you won’t have to worry about external devices such as Blu-ray players or streaming sticks. I was really impressed by how much Emotn have included here, with the TikiLive service being a fantastic hidden gem.
Other than the apps the projector comes with a selection of input connectors including one USB, one HDMI, a LAN and a Line Out port.
This may be less than what you would find on projectors at this price point, but the plethora of apps and wireless connections greatly make up for it.
The N1 comes built with two 5W speakers that are simply fantastic. I was massively impressed with the clarity and audio quality of its speakers which also support Dolby Audio.
The N1 also has Bluetooth speaker mode, which I wouldn't normally recommend as most projectors just chuck in speakers for the sake of it, but the N1 can actually be used as a backup speaker for events or parties.

Emotn’s N1 is a great projector that’s really accessible out of the box with all its features being ready from the get-go.
I was very impressed with the picture quality at all times and how accurately the auto keystone and focus features worked. For £399 you can’t really go wrong with this Netflix-certified projector that’s very user-friendly.
