Strictly's Dan Walker mocked and compared to Alan Partridge after bizarre tweet

Strictly Come Dancing's Dan Walker was mocked by fans for his "accidental Alan Partridge" moment on Twitter.

On Tuesday, Channel 5 newsreader Dan took to social media to pose a bizarre question to his fans.

"If an 11-year-old is brandishing a knife… is it ok to taser them?" he asked, seemingly referencing an incident which saw a boy of the same age holding a knife at a holiday park being tasered.

The tweet was reminiscent of Steven Coogan's character Alan Partridge's hilarious radio phone-ins.

Fans rushed to the comment section to post jokes and question him on the tweet.

"Sorry, is this an actual live situation you’re in?" one user asked, prompting Dan to write: "Thankfully not Bruce."

Another quipped: "What kind of sandwich are they making?" to which one person answered: "A spline sandwich."

"Butter??" the first user asked and received the response: "Lurpak."

Another said: "Let them butter their toast first."

Meanwhile, a lot of people properly answered Dan's question while some told him the tweet was a bit "bleak" for a Tuesday morning.

It wasn't the first time a presenter had their ultimate Alan Partridge moment.

In December, Richard Madeley was branded "peak Alan Partridge" as he hosted Good Morning Britain from the hospital "front line".

He joined co-star Kate Garraway at Whiston Hospital in Prescot to demonstrate how challenging it is for the NHS over the winter.

Richard announced that he was speaking from the "front line" and had rolled his sleeves up and tucked his tie into his shirt for cleanliness purposes.

Viewers couldn't resist making the inevitable comparisons, with one tweeting: "Richard Madeley is Peak Partridge this morning! 'You don't have to tuck your tie in....I've done it just in case!' #gmb #goodmorningbritain."
