Prince Andrew will not leave the Royal Lodge despite King Charles' pleas for him to move out, it is claimed.

Close sources claim the disgraced Duke of York intends to 'see out' the 55 years left on a lease he signed at the £30million mansion, which is located about three miles south of Windsor Castle.

It comes despite reported pressure from his monarch brother for him to make way for Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales' young family.

One close friend told the Mail On Sunday that Andrew is feeling down and will not 'budge' from the home, where he has lived for the past twenty years.

They said: "He's refusing to see anybody. This has been his family home for the past 20 years. Is it really sensible to kick him out?"

It was previously reported that King Charles is planning to slash Andrew’s £250,000 grant that he used to receive on an annual basis from Queen Elizabeth II, which would leave him struggling to meet the costs of running the property.

The subsidy is for for the upkeep and maintenance of the 30-room mansion.

Last month it was reported that Frogmore Cottage, the previous home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, is earmarked for Andrew to move into instead.

Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson currently live in separate wings of the Royal Lodge.

It was reported that palace chiefs initially set a September deadline for the former couple to vacate the residence, before accepting the date was too early.

The Duke of York's representatives have been approached for comment.
