Reese Witherspoon shows how she spent first Mother's Day since recent divorce
Reese Witherspoon has shared how she spent Mother's Day this year.
The Hollywood actress shared a sweet snap with her son Tennessee as they spent the day together, despite recent family tensions amid her divorce from actor Jim Toth.
She kicked off her festivities on Sunday by listening to fellow actress Laura Dern's book, Honey, Baby, Mine: A Mother and Daughter Talk Life, Death, Love.
Reese gave her former Big Little Lies co-star a shout out on her Instagram story before sharing a "gorgeous" quote written by Cheryl Strayed.
“The mothers you find in people who are not your mother. The mothers like a limb. The mothers like a mirror. … The mothers you aren’t. The mothers you wanted to be. The mothers you became,” the excerpt read. “I am thinking of you. I am holding you all.”

The twosome treated themselves to brunch at The Continental in Nashville, with Reese showing her 29.4m Instagram followers a glimpse at her delicious food spread.
In another snap, she sat beside son Tennessee, 10 and added the caption: "Mama’s day,” followed by a red heart emoji. In an upload that followed, Reese showed her other son, Deacon, 19, sat with his grandmother in a goofy photo.
The Legally Blonde star shares Deacon and her daughter Ava, 23, with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, who she married in 1999 until their divorce in 2008.
Ava didn't appear to have celebrated Mother's Day with Reese but featured in a throwback photo she shared with all three of her children.
“Gosh I’m lucky to be their mama,” she wrote in the caption.
Reese welcomed her youngest child with Jim, 52, one year after they tied the knot in 2011. The couple announced their split in March in a joint statement shared on Instagram.
“We have some personal news to share … It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” they typed.
“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”
They added: “Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”
