Loose Women's Janet Street-Porter makes savage dig at UK's Eurovision entry

Loose Women panellist Janet Street-Porter made a savage dig at the UK's Eurovision entry Mae Muller.

The TV presenter, 76, discussed the singing competition alongside her Loose Women stars Ruth Langsford, Judi Love and Brenda Edwards on Monday's show.

Mae Muller sadly placed second to last at the Eurovision Song Contest over the weekend as it was hosted in the UK for the first time in 25 years.

She entered with her hit I Wrote A Song, which failed to impress the rest of Europe.

Janet has now also slammed Mae's song, claiming it was dated.

"Here in Britain we have got the best technicians, the best lighting, the best costume and the whole package was good," Janet said on the show.

"All the little films were really really good. But then when we came to our song it was like Lily Allen from about 10 years ago."

Janet's comments shocked the audience as well as the panel as Judi exclaimed: "Wow, wow."

She cut back in and added: "I mean I'm sorry I..."

Before adding: "Even my dog went and had a lie down."

The audience didn't agree with Janet's opinions, but some viewers at home echoed what she was saying.

"I’ve been watching Loose Women today just to get their reaction to Eurovision. Now, when it came to Janet Street-Porter I got worried and then, she hit the nail on the head with the UK, harsh but accurate," wrote one viewer.

"Styling wasn’t it for Mae and looking like Lily Allen from 10 years ago."

Another added: "Brenda repeatedly saying "wow" at Janet's opinion on eurovision. Grow up love."

It wasn't just Mae who faced criticism from Janet, as she hit out at winner Loreen from Sweden.

"Her fingernails were kind of like 5ft long and she had a plastic nappy on," she exclaimed.

Brenda cut in: “It’s called a jumpsuit.”

"Also the Finnish bloke, what was that with the little lime green...," Janet continued.

Whilst Brenda added: "It’s called typical Eurovision."

Janet continued: "I loved him, but all the men on the show I think felt they had to be more feminine, they had to go a bit more gender neutral, a bit more transient.

"So there were lots of bugle beads, ruffles, frocks and that was just on the blokes."

One viewer commented: "Janet street porter moaning that the blokes were feminine on Eurovision…It’s Eurovision…"

After the contest, Mae Muller declared she is "disappointed but proud".

The 25-year-old singer-songwriter gave her all on Saturday night when she belted out her tune I Wrote A Song.

But her energetic performance failed to capture the attention of the Eurozone and she tanked in the points department - scraping together just 24 points from the jury and public to land in second last place just ahead of Germany.

She tweeted: “I just want to say thank u.

“I know i joke a lot but we really put our all into the last few months, not the result we hoped for but so proud of everyone & what we achieved on this journey.”

“Congrats to all the countries, I’ll never forget this journey and I love you all," she added.
