Julian Nagelsmann will not become the next Tottenham manager - three weeks after pulling out of the race to replace Graham Potter as the permanent Chelsea boss.

Spurs haven't considered the German for their managerial vacancy, with Ryan Mason expected to be in charge until the end of the season. Antonio Conte was sacked in March, with his assistant Cristian Stellini taking over on an interim basis. However, Stellini was dismissed following Tottenham's 6-1 defeat at Newcastle last month.

Mason has suggested he would be up for the gig full-time, having guided Spurs to the first victory of his second caretaker spell against Crystal Palace last time out. But Tottenham have also been considering other options, including the likes of former Barcelona and Spain boss, Luis Enrique, Sporting's Ruben Amorim and Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso - currently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

As for Nagelsmann, he has sacked from his role at Bayern Munich in March, despite winning 60 of his 84 matches in charge. Nagelsmann won the Bundesliga and the DFL-Supercup in his first full season at Bayern, but the club decided to replace him with Thomas Tuchel before their Champions League tie against Manchester City.

He was linked with the vacant job at Chelsea following Potter's dismissal in early April, but Nagelsmann openly confirmed he didn't want to take the reigns at Stamford Bridge. The Blues appointed Frank Lampard as interim manager until the end of the campaign instead.

While Chelsea had questions over his age and readiness to move outside of Germany and into the Premier League, he seemingly had similar reservations about moving to west London. Asked about his decision, he gave little away, telling Sky Sport Germany: "To cancel something, you have to commit to something."

Nagelsmann may now have to wait for another job after not being considered for the vacancy at Tottenham and snubbing Chelsea within the same month, however. There is expected to be several Premier League vacancies available at the end of the season, with Crystal Palace amongst these set to need a new manager.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will now focus their manager search without Nagelsmann in the frame. Speaking last week on his position, Mason said: "I'm sure naturally when there's uncertainty there are going to be names.

"That's football, that's part of it. But none of my energy is going into any outside noise or speculation. Within these walls we're working together and have a common goal, and that's trying to get as many results as possible before the end of the season."

Tottenham are sixth in the Premier League and could miss out on European football. They are six points behind Manchester United in fourth having played a game more, five behind Liverpool in fifth, and two ahead of Brighton in seventh but played two games more. Spurs are next in action when they travel to Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon - a huge game in the race for European football.
