Whoopi Goldberg hits out at The View co-star after farting on air shame

Whoopi Goldberg was left red faced as she was forced to clear the air after being accused of farting while on set of The View.

The 67-year-old panellist insisted "there was never an issue", after her co-host Sunny Hostin crowned Whoopi as the person who "passes the most gas on set".

Whoopi has been accused of farting a number of times on the ABC show, including back in January when a loud fart noise sent The View into chaos.

During another incident, which fans later dubbed "fart-gate", she blamed the noise on an unexplained sound effect.

Sunny, 54, made the claims during an interview with Andy Cohen last month and it seems Whoopi is far from impressed.

On Wednesday's episode of The View, Andy appeared as a special guest and Whoopi used it as her opportunity to speak out.

She said: "Before we get started, I want to put something to bed with the two of you.

"I'm just gonna say it, there was never an issue. A sound was made on the table, and that's what it was."

She insisted: "We don't need to bring it up ever again, anywhere. OK? We're good?"

Speaking to Andy earlier, Sunny said she could never smell passed gas on set and said she believed Whoopi had farted because she owned up to the noises.

Backtracking on her claims, Sunny said they recently got new coasters for their mugs because the cups would always make strange noises when they were moved around the table.

Elsewhere on Wednesday's episode of The View, Whoopi shocked viewers as she weighed in on a debate about how much underwear should be taken on a trip and admitted: "I don’t wear underwear, so it’s not a question I have to think about."

Sunny further quizzed her co-host as she said: "But Whoopi it's a 14-day trip."

Whoopi replied: "I still don't bring underwear."

Fans quickly took to Twitter to share their disbelief, with one fan writing: "Whoopi we didn't really need to know you don't wear underwear!"
