Whoopi Goldberg has issued a health update as she returned for today's episode of The View.

The TV host, 67, is a fan favourite on the ABC daytime show but last week, she was forced to pull out of the programme after falling ill on Tuesday.

The star is now back and thanked her co-stars who had wished her a speedy recovery.

Appearing on Monday's episode, Whoopi said: "Well, hello and welcome to The View it's nice to be back," before turning to Sara Haines and adding: "Well I don't know if I'm talking to you."

The panellists laughed before explaining Sara had originally had a cold before Whoopi was wiped out with her illness.
