Manchester City will take on Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Pep Guardiola's side are aiming to become just the second team in history after Manchester United to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in the same season. Yet they will need to overcome the reigning European champions to do that.

Real, meanwhile, are chasing a record 15th European Cup. The winners will be regarded as the red hot favourites to win the Champions League final in Istanbul on June 10, with unfancied Italian rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan contesting the other semi-final.

Here is everything you need to know about Tuesday night's big game...

When is Real Madrid vs Manchester City?

Real host City at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, May 9. The first leg of the Champions League semi-final is scheduled to kick-off at 8pm.

It's the first meeting between the two clubs since Real completed a remarkable comeback to reach last season's Champions League final. Real forward Rodrygo scored two goals in added-time to send the tie to extra-time, where Karim Benzema hit the winner.

City will be desperate to avenge that loss in pursuit of a first European Cup. Guardiola's players do have a good record against the Spanish giants after knocking them out of the 2019/20 Champions League. Yet it's difficult to predict how this tie will play out.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City team news

Luka Modric could be left on the bench for Tuesday night's game due to a hamstring injury. The Croatian was introduced during Real's Copa del Rey final victory against Osasuna on Saturday night but is yet to start a game since picking up the complaint.

Aurelien Tchouameni is likely to start if Modric is not picked. Dani Ceballos (thigh), Ferland Mendy (calf) and Eder Militao (suspended) will all miss the first leg, with Ancelotti likely to play Eduardo Camavinga at left-back and Antonio Rudiger at centre-back.

Guardiola has confirmed a 21-man travelling squad. Nathan Ake will stay in Manchester after picking up a hamstring injury against Leeds on Saturday afternoon, leaving Guardiola with a difficult decision at left-back. Kyle Walker or Sergio Gomez could deputise.

Ake is the only major absentee from City's squad, with Guardiola confident of success. He told reporters: "We arrive here with encouragement. The way we play was really good.

"We are not here for revenge just another opportunity. One day we will win it. We come here this season to do it. It didn't happen last year because we played Real."
