A man has been shot and killed outside a KFC restaurant in Colombia.

The unnamed victim had just arrived at the fast food outlet when a gunman ran up to him and blasted him at close range multiple times.

The suspected killer, who was with several accomplices, was later arrested by police. He was found with an allegedly stolen firearm belonging to the National Police.

The horror shooting was captured on CCTV and took place at the recently-opened KFC in the neighbourhood of Ciudad Córdoba, Cali City, at around 10pm on May 3.

After the alleged murder, staff members called the authorities and several police teams arrived on the scene.

Cali Metropolitan Police spokesperson Colonel William Quintero said: “An unfortunate case occurred in an establishment here in the city of Cali at approximately 10pm, where there was a timely reaction from our units.

“A foreign subject was captured who was carrying a firearm, a pistol, which apparently, we are also still verifying, had allegedly been stolen from the National Police.”

Col Quintero added that the victim had a criminal record, but did not reveal a possible motive for the murder – a dispute between rival criminal gangs has not been ruled out.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting as well as how a police firearm ended up in the hands of criminals.
