Philadelphia Eagles head coach speaks out on Mahomes after losing Super Bowl
The Super Bowl may not have gone as planned for the Philadelphia Eagles, but head coach Nick Sirianni has claimed that the game was "good for the NFL" as a whole.
Super Bowl LVII in Arizona was an instant classic, and the Kansas City Chiefs scored a last-minute field goal to win the game 38-35. It was a game that had everything, and the performances by both Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts were both world-class.
Mahomes scooped the Super Bowl MVP award, becoming the first player this millennium to be crowned the most valuable during the regular season and also in the big game. Hurts also starred with three rushing touchdowns, and there's not doubt in Sirianni's mind that both Super Bowl quarterbacks are the best in the NFL.
Super Bowl LVII was always tipped to be a classic, but fans got even more than they expected in Glendale, Arizona. 73 match points, nine touchdowns and two standout performances from both Mahomes and Hurts, it really was a spectacle.
Sirianni may be left heartbroken after seeing his Eagles side go so close, but the head coach thinks that the match was "good for the NFL" as he credited both Hurts and Mahomes after the game. Sirianni said: "And you know you really look at the game and that was good for the NFL in the sense that the two best quarterbacks in the NFL played against each other on the biggest stage in the biggest lights. And Jalen played great."

It was a stunning second-half comeback by the Chiefs that saw them lift the Super Bowl, and Mahomes led them to glory despite hurting his right ankle again in the first half. Mahomes played through the pain and managed to pick up his second Super Bowl title inside five years.
Jalen Hurts did all he could - but it still wasn't enoughEven though he was on the losing side, it was one of the great Super Bowl performances from Hurts, who left everything out on the field. Three rushing touchdowns, a successful two-point attempt and over 300 passing yards came from Hurts, but even that wasn't enough to thwart the Chiefs.
It was the best game Sirianni has ever seen from Hurts, and it's unlikely this will be the last we see of the young quarterback in the Super Bowl. "To me, Jalen (Hurts) played the best game I’ve seen him play in the two years that we’ve been together," Sirianni added.
"He was outstanding. I really thought he was in complete control. He did things with his legs in the run game. He did things with his arm in the pass game, made some unbelievable throws, unbelievable reads. I thought he played outstanding."
