It's hard to imagine King Charles and Queen Camilla watching an episode of Corrie or listening to that iconic 'doof doof' sound at the end of Eastenders.

But it might surprise people to learn that the King has actually appeared in episodes of both soaps.

Yes, really.

Over the years, Charles has had cameos in a number of television shows, from Coronation Street to Countryfile and he even once presented a BBC Weather Forecast in Scotland.

Charles and Camilla have previously shared their love for shows such as The Great British Bake Off, but we don't know what their favourite TV programme is.

Here's a look back over some of his most iconic television cameos...

Coronation Street

King Charles featured in the soap's live episode to celebrate the show's 40th anniversary.

The episode was broadcast on December 8, 2000 and the then Prince of Wales was seen on a news bulletin on the show, which showed him meeting Weatherfield Councillor Audrey Roberts.

Audrey's friends gathered around their TV set to watch her meet the Prince.

His visit to the famous street coincided with a protest from residents over the council's attempts to dig up the cobbles.

While the rest of the episode was live, Charles' footage was actually filmed earlier in the day when actress Sue Nicholls was presented to him during his visit to the Granada studios.

During his visit to the Coronation Street set, Charles also notably popped into the Rovers Return and chatted with several other cast members including William Roache (Ken Barlow), Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth), Jacqueline Pirie (Linda Baldwin) and Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt),

BBC Weather

During a visit to BBC Scotland's headquarters in Pacific Quay, Glasgow in May 2012, Charles presented a special weather report to celebrate 60 years of BBC Scotland television.

He surely gave all those watching at home a big surprise, when presenter Sally Magnusson introduced him by saying: "I am delighted to say we have a new member of our weather team tonight. Let me hand over to him now. Your Highness."

Charles then said: "Well, it's an unsettled picture as we head towards the end of the week. This afternoon it'll be cold, wet, and windy across most of Scotland.

"We are under the influence of low pressure and this weather front pushing north, bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain. The rain of course will be heaviest over the borders and around Edinburgh, which could lead to difficult conditions on the roads.

"In the west, rain will be lighter and patchier - maybe a few drier interludes over Dumfries. There will be snow over the higher ground at the Highlands and Aberdeen - with the potential with a few flurries over Balmoral."

Charles and the rest of the presenters had a good laugh, with the monarch adding: "Who the hell wrote this script?"

Countryfile

In 2013, Charles featured in and guest edited an episode marking the 25th anniversary of Countryfile called A Royal Appointment.

The episode featured rural stories and locations close to his heart with a focus on sustainable farming.

While filming, the Countryfile team got to learn about Charles' love of hedgelaying and walking in the country, as they spent time on his Highgrove Estate in Gloucestershire.

This Morning

In 2018, for the 30th anniversary of This Morning, Charles and Camilla visited ITV Studios and met with Holly and Phill, taking a seat on the sofa with them.

They chatted about harvesting and had a good laugh when a cheeky puppy from the charity Dogs for Good stole one of the microphones and ran off with it.

The couple went on to try Chef Phil Vickery's take on a mutton hotpot during the episode, made specially after Charles had urged the public to try cooking with it instead o lamb to help farmers sell older animals.

During their trip to ITV, they also visited Lorraine and Good Morning Britain.

EastEnders

Both Charles and Camilla took a trip to Albert Square just last year to appear in a special episode of EastEnders celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Heading down to the set the royal couple joined the cast as the guests of honours at a street party outside The Queen Vic to mark the Queen's 70-year reign.

They filmed scenes at the Elstree set in March 2022 ahead of the Jubilee and the episode aired over the bank holiday weekend in June.

The King and Queen consort were described as "amazing sports" by star Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter.

The Repair Shop

The King also previously appeared in a special centenary episode of The Repair Shop in October 2022.

For the occasion, Charles chose a piece of pottery made for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and it would be restored by the programme's team of experts, along with an 18th century clock.

During the episode, he gave Jay Blades a tour of Dumfries House in Scotland, before getting his own tour of the workshop and meeting the team.

The King also visited a number of students from the Prince’s Trust who were learning skills in stonemasonry and blacksmithing and spoke about the importance of apprenticeships in promoting vocational skills in young people.
