Russell Crowe explains why he won't attend King Charles III's Coronation
Russell Crowe has opened up about why he "didn't get the call" for King Charle III's Coronation.
The event, which last happened in 1953, is occurring this weekend and many high-profile names will attend it.
However, Hollywood icon Russell isn't on the guestlist.
The 59-year-old said he previously didn't follow the strict protocol when he met with members of the royal family.
Russell referred to Prince Harry and Prince William as 'mate' when he saw them even though he was told to be formal.

He was asked whether he was attending the Coronation during an appearance on Triple M Breakfast Brisbane.
The Gladiator icon admitted he "didn't get the call".

The star refused to use their royal titles and called Prince Harry and William 'mate' (Getty Images)"It's probably due to the last time I was introduced to royalty," he continued.
"The equerry [an officer of the British royal household], he comes to talk to you and then goes, 'Listen, when you talk to a prince, you refer to them as this, this, this and this.' The thing is, that's just not in my DNA."
He added: "I'm always respectful and I'm always very pleased to meet people, but the "your highness" thing, it's just not in my nature.

Russell recently said that, although the sovereign is a "good bloke", he believes the Firm is outdated and should be scrapped.
After mentioning how he refuses to call the members of the royal family by their titles, he tweeted: "I view the costumes and the ritual and the pageantry with distant interest, if any. I don’t know what it’s all supposed to mean in 2023, nor in any other time for that matter. I don’t really think we need a King, but I’m sure Charles III will do the very best job he can."

"He’s taking over the family business. That is his destiny. Like it is for many, from publishers to plasterers."

Russell told his followers to not "bother sending abuse" as he's not a monarchist and received mixed responses from fans.
