It's an event which will go down in the history books - quite literally.

The Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla on May 6 will be a monumental moment in the history of the United Kingdom and the ceremony will feature an impressive line-up of singers for the Coronation concert a day later.

The likes of Katy Perry and Lionel Richie are set to grace the stage and put on a performance to dazzle the Royal Family and the thousands of spectators in attendance.

Now, as the finishing touches are put on the huge event, images have surfaced showing the fantastic setting for the musicians to strut their stuff on.

Inside the grounds of Windsor Castle will be a huge Union Jack stage with platforms that fan out into the crowd and a halo-like screen surrounding the roof.

The staging will create multiple levels for a 74-piece classical ensemble, according to the BBC, which is made up of the Countess of Wessex’s String Orchestra and woodwind, brass and percussion sections from the Bands of the Household Division.

Along with the aforementioned American Idol judges, other acts ready to woo the watching crowds around the world include Take That, Paloma Faith, Olly Murs, Steve Winwood, Nicole Scherzinger and Andrea Bocelli.

The concert will be hosted by actor Hugh Bonneville. Tom Cruise, Dame Joan Collins, Bear Grylls and Sir Tom Jones are all set to appear in special video messages.

Unfortunately, not every invite was returned with a ticket in the attending box.

A number of world-class artists had to send their apologies for being a no-show, including Kylie Minogue who is said to have turned down the offer after weighing up account growing Republican sentiment in Australia.

Kylie, 54, was reportedly advised that the gig would not go down well with those back home, with the idea of constitutional reform ramping up in the months following Queen Elizabeth II's death in September.

Icons Sir Elton John and the Spice Girls were also among those on a growing list of stars who won't be attending.

The Rocket Man won't be performing due to his European tour, which sees him performing in Germany the Friday before with not enough turnaround time blamed, while Ed Sheeran also had to say no due to "logistics and previous touring commitments" it was claimed.

Similar reasoning was said to be behind Adele's choice to say no, with the pair's rejection reportedly a huge blow to organisers who had apparently placed the pair at the top of their wish list.
