Rylan Clark had a traumatic experience trying to reach Liverpool where he is due to present coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest next week - but had fans in stitches with his amusing updates.

The 34-year-old former X Factor contestant is one of a host of presenters who will be providing insight and commentary during a series of qualifying rounds ahead of next Saturday’s grand final.

Rylan lives in Essex in south east England and had to make his way up north on Friday to reach the city of Liverpool where the 2023 contest is being held - and representing last years’ winners, Ukraine.

But the star’s trip was far from easy as he faced disruption and challenges as he took a train to the iconic city.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Rylan kept fans up to date with all his troubles as he battled his way to Liverpool.

But things got off to a bad start, as there is disruption over the Bank Holiday weekend - with issues at Euston station.

Customers had previously been warned that some journeys departing from the North London station could be delayed.

While the station is closed on Sunday due to engineering works - with hours of delays predicted as replacement bus services as tolled out instead.

At around 6pm on Saturday, Rylan tweeted: "All trains suspended at Euston you cannot be serious. This is how I perish."

He quickly drew attention from fans, and tweeted: “A group of women have just screamed RYLAN at the top of their voice on the concourse. Slowly dying.”

He then revealed: “I’ve befriended an elder who has just come back from Japan and is looking to get to Birmingham. Lovely man . This is real.”

It appeared he was making no progress fast, however, as he later tweeted: “EUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM.”

He later began sharing photographs form his journey - sharing one snap that he simply captioned “Chaos” and it showed a packed Euston station, before his next snap showed he’d resorted to drinking red wine.

He then shared a selfie of himself with a group of fellow passengers who he described as being “also stranded”.

Finally making it to a train, he then explained: "The train has been declared Declassified. No drinks. No good. No seats.

"Nothing matters anymore. A lady has give me a pornstar martini. This could be the end. God speed x."

A further post to Twitter came at around 9pm in which he said: "I will give £50 to anyone that will cuddle me at the end of this experience, preferably throughout the night."

As the drama continued, he appealed to actress Sheridan Smith to portray him in a future dramatisation of his journey.

He tweeted: “I wish for SHERIDAN to play me in the tv drama” - and, spectacularly, Sheridan herself replied declaring: “With pleasure”.

At 10.39pm, Rylan shared a video saying he had got to his hotel room where he found a karaoke machine - which he appeared very excited about.

Eurovision begins on Tuesday 9 May with the first semi-final of the contest, with the second semi-final taking place on Thursday 11 May.

The grand final will then take place on Saturday 13 May where 26 countries will battle it out for the winners spot.
