The jury in the murder trial of cult mum Lori Vallow have been shown horrific pictures of one of the victims lying dead on their bed with blood oozing out of her mouth.

Vallow, 49, and husband Chad Daybell, 54, are accused of murdering his wife Tammy at their Idaho home in October 2019, two weeks before the lovers married.

The mum and Daybell have also been accused of killing Vallow's children Tylee and her adopted brother JJ, seven, in Rexburg, Idaho in September 2019 after beginning to believe their children were Satanic "zombies" and part of a "Doomsday" scenario.

The jurors at the Ada County Courthouse in Boise were shown pictures of Tammy Daybell lying on the bed with pink foam covering her mouth and a streak of blood across her face.

At the time she was found, her death was considered to be of natural causes but her body was later exhumed in the wake of suspicions over the fate of Vallow's children.

An autopsy later determined she had been suffocated and had bruises across her body.

Alyssa Greenhalgh, an officer at the Fremont County Sheriff's Office, was one of the first responders to arrive at the scene of Tammy's death. She described suspect Daybell as appearing "distraught".

At the time Daybell said Tammy had woken up in the middle of the night coughing and vomiting. He claimed he helped her clean up and then got her back to bed.

He said when he woke up at around 5.40am he noticed Tammy had partially fallen out the bed and wasn't breathing.

Officer Greenhalgh said: "She had some pink, reddish foam in her moth that was running down her cheek."

She added: "I did notice lividity on her back and legs, bruising on her arm".

Cammy Willmore, a deputy coroner at Fremont County who also attended the scene, told the court that suspect Daybell was "distressed, distraught, appropriately so, saying he found his wife dead."

She added that finding the foam on Tammy's face was "odd".

A recording of Daybell's 911 call that night was played to the court.

“I’m Chad the husband. She’s clearly dead,” Daybell said, according to EastIdahoNews. “She’s frozen.”

Prosecutors allege that Tammy’s death was one of three murders the cult couple.

So far, Vallow’s trial has focused on the grim deaths of her two children.

Her 16-year-old daughter was partially eaten by an animal - with jurors shown graphic pictures of her remains.

Angi Christensen, an FBI forensic anthropologist, told Ada County Courthouse in Boise, Idaho, US, Tylee's bones had damage "consistent with carnivore scavenging" while her pelvis suffered "sharp traumas."

Tylee Vallow's remains were sent to bone specialists for further research the jury was told as Ms Christensen showed the court grizzly pictures showing severe cuts on the side of her bone.
