Andrew Tate is refusing doctors' care after his face swelled up with a strange illness that he fears may have been poisoning that left his skin "on fire".

The former kickboxing world champion is currently under house arrest in his plush Bucharest home after being released from detention in Romania last month. He and younger brother Tristan, a former European champion, were detained amid an investigation into alleged human trafficking and forming an organised crime group, with two others arrested as well.

The Tate brothers are still not fully free to move around at will, while they have not had their seized collection of supercars returned, but they have maintained active presences on social media throughout their time out from behind bars. On Thursday, Andrew's Twitter account tweeted to his 6.3million followers complaining of swelling on his skin, with footage garnering millions of views.

"Face swollen," he wrote in one tweet along with videos showing the severity of the issue. " Blood pressure is through the roof. Skins on fire. Hard to breathe. Some sort of severe reaction or poison. Only had coffee and water so far today. All appeared in the last 5mins." Another read: "Eyes almost shut Gathering chi."

Tate's account, which appears to be updated through a third party, then insisted that he would not be taking medicine over fears that a doctor would kill him with injections. There were further tweets that confirmed the fighter has no allergies, and refuses to do anything but fend off the illness, which he claims could be poisoning of some description, himself.

"Andrew is not allergic to anything," one post read. "This has never happened before. Has only had water and coffee today. Either an insect bite or some matrix attack insanity in his bottled water. He’s refusing doctors and is focusing on tea and breathing. Will keep you all updated.

"Andrews fine. Says that pain is part of life. He says the doctor will inject him with 'who knows what' and kill him. He’s in lotus position and drinking tea. As long as he can breathe he refuses medical attention - so far so good. The question is where this came from."

Andrew, 36, is a four-time world kickboxing champion, while Tristan, 34, won titles at European level during a less-decorated career in the ring. But their fame arrived away from the sport when they emerged as huge social media stars last summer, going viral for a string of controversial videos that led concerned viewers to brand them misogynist and dangerous.

Last year, Andrew was banned from social media for reportedly misogynistic views, with one particularly problematic post claiming that women "bear responsibility" for sexual assault. Despite his ban, Tate regained his Twitter profile and amassed millions of followers when Elon Musk took over the company and reinstated a number of controversial pages.
