Where the last ten NFL Draft first picks are now as Bryce Young expected next
Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young is expected to join a prestigious club by being the No1 overall NFL Draft pick with the Carolina Panthers picking first.
The 21-year-old has been highly impressive at Alabama, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2021, while boasting an overall wins to loss record of 23-4. Young also holds the Alabama record for the most passing yards in a single game at 599.
The Philly-born QB also wowed NFL executives and scouts with a reported 98 per cent score in a C2 Cognition test, blowing out first-round quarterback draft rivals like Ohio’s CJ Stroud, who managed just 18 per cent. Mirror Sport has taken a look at where the last ten first picks are now.
Travon Walker - 2022
Linebacker Travon Walker was the first overall pick of the 2022 draft, being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars after starring for Georgia at college level.

The 22-year-old was an NCAA National Champion in 2021 and signed a four-year rookie contract, worth $37.4million (£29.9m) fully guaranteed with the Jaguars.
During his debut in the regular season for the Jaguars, Walker totalled 49 tackles, including ten tackles for a loss and three-and-a-half sacks. And In two postseason games, he added five tackles.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence was 2021’s first overall pick and like Walker, he joined the Jaguars. He signed a four-year rookie contract, worth $36.8m (£29.5m) that also included a $24.1m (£19.3m) signing bonus.
Joining with a wins to loss college record of 34-2, Lawrence was named the Jaguars’ starting quarterback in his debut season.
And although he’s yet to win his first Super Bowl, he’s already a Pro Bowler, being honoured for the 2022 season.
Joe Burrow - 2020
Joe Burrow switched from Ohio State to LSU at college level, stating he’s better than being a bench-level quarterback. He was right, as he went on to win the 2019 Heisman Trophy with an unbeaten record of 15-0 that season for LSU. The college also won the CFP national championship.
The 26-year-old was then drafted to the Cincinnati Bengals first overall in 2020 and has enjoyed considerable success in the NFL following penning a four-year rookie contract, worth $36.1m (£28.9m.
Burrow is a one-time Pro Bowler and a Bengals hero. He helped the Bengals reach a second consecutive AFC Championship game last season, but the Bengals lost to eventual Super Bowl winners, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kyler Murray’s impressive college career at Oklahoma landed him at first overall with the Arizona Cardinals. The 25-year-old QB signed a four-year rookie contract, worth $35.2m (£28.1m) with the Cardinals.
He is a two-time Pro Bowler for 2020 and 2021, and was the 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Murray’s 2022 season ended prematurely after suffering a torn ACL, posting stats of 2,368 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions to go along with 88 carries for 418 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in 11 games played.
Baker Mayfield - 2018
Baker Mayfield was 2018’s first overall pick, being selected by the Cleveland Browns on a four-year rookie contract worth $32.6m (£26.1m) after a successful college career in Oklahoma as a quarterback.
However, Baker’s NFL career hasn’t exactly gone to plan, and he is on the fourth team of his professional football career.
The 28-year-old played for the Panthers and the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ahead of the 2023 season.

Defensive end Myles Garrett was up first in 2017, joining the Cleveland Browns from Texas A&M. He penned a four-year deal with a whopping $30.4m (£24.3m) guaranteed with over $20m (£16m) in signing bonuses.
Since joining the Browns, Garrett has featured in the first-team All-Pro twice in 2020 and 2021, and he is a four-time Pro Bowler but has retired from featuring in any future games.
The 27-year-old is, however, yet to experience Super Bowl glory.
Jared Goff - 2016
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff was the 2016 first overall pick when he was selected by the Los Angeles Rams after starring in college football at California.
The 28-year-old QB was honoured twice in the Pro Bowl during his time in LA, before he was traded by the Lions in 2021 with Matthew Stafford going the other way.
Goff featured in the Pro Bowl again in 2022.

Quarterback Jameis Winston was picked first overall in 2015, joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from Florida State.
After a 2015 Pro Bowl appearance, Winston’s career didn’t take off as expected. In fact, in 2019 he was replaced by the legendary Tom Brady at the Buccaneers, who went on to lead the franchise to their first Super Bowl since 2002.
Winston also struggled with injuries during his time at the Buccaneers. He underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus, LASIK surgery, nursed a knee injury and a broken thumb. The 29-year-old joined the New Orleans Saints in 2020.
Jadeveon Clowney - 2014
Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was picked first in 2014 by the Houston Texans from South Carolina.
The 30-year-old is a three-time Pro Bowler, but is on the fourth team of his NFL career.
Clowney is a free agent after leaving the Browns at the end of the 2022 season.

Free agent Eric Fisher was picked first in the 2013 draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, and the 32-year-old is the only first overall draftee in the last decade who is a Super Bowl winner.
Fisher won the Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2019 before joining the Indianapolis Colts.
The offensive tackle’s last team was the Miami Dolphins last season.
