Moment man gunned down in cafe with police hunting Brits over public execution

This is the moment an Albanian businessman is gunned down in his own cafe, with police hunting down four Brits over the execution.

Three men and a woman are wanted by cops following the killing of Ardian Nikulaj, 50, in the coastal town of Shengjin, northwestern Albania, on April 19.

Police are also looking for an Albanian-British citizen and a Portuguese national, Director General of the State Police Muhamet Rrumbullaku said.

CCTV footage shows a man in a high vest entering the cafe as the businessman drinks a coffee while talking on the phone.

The suspect, wearing a face mask, then grabs a gun from his pocket, aims at Mr Nikulaj and allegedly kills him.

As the incident unfolds, a man who was in the cafe before the man entered appears to exit while two more, possibly workers at the establishment, scramble to escape towards a hidden area.

The shooter can then be seen rushing to leave the cafe with a motorbike before the clip ends.

According to Mr Rrumbullak, the suspects have left Albania but authorities are continuing to work to find them.

He said during a press conference: "We are here today to communicate the investigative activity for the criminal event in Shengjin where Ardian Nikulaj was shot dead.

"After the event, a special investigation group was set up, with the aim of documenting and disclosing the authorship.

"The State Police evaluates this event and for the clarification, a series of evidences that serve as a document of the event have been seized. Shell casings, firearms, telephone and some other biological evidence were found.

"The actions of the suspected author and all the dynamics of the citizens involved in this criminal event have been documented. Irrefutable biological scientific evidence has been provided."

According to Albanian TV Channel News 24, police tracked down the suspects after finding some clothes believed to have been used by the perpetrator of the incident.

Mr Nikulaj, a construction businessman, was convicted for illegal possession of weapons in 2003 and for smuggling and forgery in 2006, reports Albanian news website Politiko.

Last year, the victim stood as a candidate for Albania's Social Democratic Party in local council elections.
