A record label executive has reportedly denied the claim that Morgan Wallen was "too drunk" to perform at his cancelled show in Mississippi over the weekend.

The singer-songwriter, 29, had been due to perform at the Vaught–Hemingway Stadium in Oxford on Sunday (April 23) but he cancelled his appearance at the last minute.

Attendees are said to have been notified at the venue - reportedly after the opening acts' sets - that Morgan had "lost his voice" and wouldn't be able to perform.

A video - seemingly taken at the venue - is subsequently understood to have gone viral on TikTok, which featured an individual believed to be a security guard at the event.

They seemed to claim that Morgan had been "too drunk" to perform and alleged that he was taken off in an ambulance. They said the suggestion that he'd lost his voice was "bull crap".

Best Crowd Management - who reportedly handled security at the concert - are understood to have since issued a statement in which they said that such claims were "false".

It said: "A hired employee of BEST Crowd Management made false claims as it related to last night's Morgan Wallen concert and we do not stand behind the detail in his statement. Please refer to Morgan's social media pages for details."

As reported by Fox News, it was shared by Seth England, who's the CEO of record label Big Loud Records, which includes Morgan among its roster of country music artists.

Seth reportedly responded to the post: "Thank you [Best Crowd Management] for correcting your employee, who made up an entire story that was nowhere close to true."

His statement, shared by various outlets, continued: "Every detail was false. Laughable what some people will just say for a reaction".

He added: "Don't Believe Everything You Read."

Morgan is understood to have issued two statements about his health on Instagram in recent days, with him initially commenting on the cancelled show in Oxford.

He wrote: "After last night's show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better."

"I really thought I'd be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing," he further commented.

Morgan added that all tickets would be refunded "at point of purchase" and he concluded by writing: "I am so sorry, I promise you guys I tried everything I could."

He's since issued a follow-up post, confirming that his shows in Grand Rapids (Michigan), Moline (Illinois) and Lincoln (Nebraska) this week have now been postponed.

Morgan wrote: "Ya'll know how important my fans are to me, so I feel horrible about this news. There's nothing more I want to do than be on stage playing for you guys."

He continued: "But as of today, I am on doctor-ordered vocal rest and we have to reschedule this week's shows.

"I appreciate and understand everything you do to get to my shows, so it would be unfair of me to put on a show that that I know will not be 100%. I'm doing everything I can to speed up the process of getting to that 100% mark".
