For 259 young men, this week will be the biggest of their lives as NFL franchises have their annual NFL Draft to recruit newly eligible players.

Around eight million people across the US will watch the three-day event which will be staged on the plaza outside of Union Station in Kansas City from April 27 to April 29.

All eyes will be on who gets drafted as the overall first pick by the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, with some of the greatest gridiron players of all-time previously taking the honour. Included in that list have been: OJ Simpson, Peyton Manning, Alex Smith and Cam Newton, with the last three being Travon Walker, Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow.

Here is all the information you need for the 2023 draft...

What TV channel is the NFL draft on and where can I stream it?

In the UK, there are two main places to watch the action unfold - either Sky Sports or NFL Game Pass.

Sky Sports subscribers can watch live from 9pm on Draft night in the company of Neil Reynolds, Phoebe Schecter and former Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman on Sky Sports NFL (sometimes called Sky Sports Action). The channel will also have Good Morning Football, ProFootballTalk, Path to the Draft and Total Access throughout the week. You can stream it on Sky Go or buy a Now TV pass.

NFL Game Pass will also be providing a live stream to its subscribers throughout the draft. Equally, if you only have access to the radio, talkSPORT will be broadcasting the first round of the draft from midnight.

Of course, if you are out and about, don't have access to Sky Sports or Game Pass and want high-quality information and analysis stay with us here on Mirror Sport - we will be running a live blog along with our usual stories.

In the US, there will be blanket coverage, but it is NFL Network, ESPN, ABC and ESPN Deportes where the live broadcast will be shown.

How does it work and when is the first pick?

The draft will consist of seven rounds where NFL teams can pick the players they want to sign in a predetermined order, with each franchise having at least one automatic pick in each round. Ordinarily there are 32 picks in the draft but this year the Miami Dolphins have been deducted their pick after an investigation into violation of league policies around the integrity of the game.

Teams have a table at the venue, and have draft rooms at their training facilities, from which they will have 10 minutes to make their decision in the first round; with seven minutes in the second, five minutes in the third to sixth rounds, and four minutes in the seventh round.

The order is based around the finishing order of last year's NFL season, although placings change throughout the year based on trade deals, while selections can also be traded on the night with teams looking to move up for players they want, or trade back to accumulate more picks.

What is the draft order?

The Chicago Bears were supposed to be the first team to select a player at the draft, but traded it to the Carolina Panthers in a deal which saw them receive wide receiver DJ Moore.

Therefore the order for the first round is: Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Washington Commanders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles and finally Super Bowl winners Kansas City Chiefs.

Five teams are without a pick on day one. Alongside the Dolphins they are the Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers.

For the remaining six rounds you can find out the information on the NFL website.

Who are expected to get drafted in the first round?

This year is a good year to be a quarterback, with plenty of gaps on rosters and high number of super-talented play callers on the draft list.

Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis are the four hottest properties in the quarterback market. In other positions look out for the likes of Will Anderson Jr, Jalen Carter and Tyree Wilson getting picked up in the top 10 as premier players from this year's class.
