Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass – price, release date, what's included
Dead Island 2 is out in the wild, and with many purging the streets of Hell-A already, naturally the biggest question now is: what's next?
While Dead Island 2 offers up a lengthy campaign full of guts, gore and fuses, the next question on everyone's mind is what's next for Dambuster Studios' zombie-infested adventure. Luckily, players won't have to wait anywhere near as long as it took for Dead Island 2 to come out for their next zombie mashing exercise as the game is set to receive an expansion pass which promises a batch of new content for players to explore.
The Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass is included in the digital-exclusive Dead Island 2 Gold edition and in the Dead Island 2 Hell-A edition. Owners of the regular and deluxe editions are out of luck for now, as you're currently unable to buy it separately, although we imagine it will become available to purchase separately later down the line, as a model like that would make no sense whatsoever.
Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass: price
Currently, there isn't an exact price available due to the aforementioned Gold and Hell-A edition exclusivity. However, the price difference between the game's standard and gold edition in each region is £20 / $20 / AU$20, so we would expect the price of the Dead Island 2 Expansion pass to be in that area.
Although we wouldn't be surprised if it ended up a little pricier to offer more of an incentive for new players to pick up the more expensive Dead Island 2 Gold Edition.

Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass release date
We don't have a confirmed release date for the Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass just yet, and as this is the first game in the series to receive an expansion like this, we don't even have much to help us predict. The only DLC the original Dead Island received was Dead Island Riptide – which was an entirely separate release arriving 19 months after the original game.
Based on what is in the Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass, we would be surprised if it doesn't release in 2023, but there's always a chance of it arriving in early 2024.
What's included in the Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass?
The official description of the Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass gives us an idea of what we can expect, while not going into too many specifics. The Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass promises two brand new chapters of the main story which will include 'new missions, foes, weapons, abilities and areas of Hell-A to explore'.
Hopefully we won't need to wait too long to find out exactly what awaits us in the Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass. We're eager to jump back in and dismember some more of the undead; after all, we gave it a four star rating in our Dead Island 2 review, saying it was undoubtedly worth the 10-year wait.
