A homeowner is at their wits end as their neighbour makes their life a living hell through constant noise - the resident does not know what more to do.

They have been living in the same apartment complex as the nightmare neighbour for the last two years and since then there has been non-stop noise and disruption.

The person even says they have had nightmares in the past about their neighbour breaking into their house or getting into a fight with them and it is causing them huge distress.

In the Reddit post, they added that they have tried to call the council and the police but nothing ever seems to change.

The resident, who remained anonymous, wrote: "My downstairs neighbour makes me feel so unsafe that I keep having nightmares about him. Kept slamming the door loudly in the middle of the night, jolting me awake.

"Blasts music for hours every single day. I've tried knocking on his door to talk to him and he just hides away inside, too cowardly to even face me. I banged pots and pans, stomped on the floor, yelled, rang his doorbell incessantly to get him to stop and nothing works. He thinks it's funny."

Since the resident began calling the police on him, he has started to do the same and will call them whenever the person leaves so much as a note.

But even when they do call the police, it takes them so long to arrive.

"The council keep telling me to write diaries of the incidences when he's played music. I've written endless, two years worth of diaries and still nothing gets done," they wrote.

"I've had to move my bins all around town to get away from him and he somehow still finds them and dumps his rubbish in them. Once I took his bin bag out of my bin and deposited it in front of his door to make a point. Guess what? He left it there for a week and called the police rather than just throwing his stuff away in his own bin. Now my bins have mysteriously disappeared."

When the homeowner told the council about their bins, they were told it was a waste management issue and they will now have to keep their new bins in her their flat.

They said: "I've tried everything. Offering mediation services, sending him notes where I try to reach a compromise. Nothing works. This level of inconsideration and disrespect from someone who lives this close to me makes me feel so unsafe that I keep having nightmares about either getting into physical fights with him or him trying to break into my flat. I'm at my wits end here."

In response, many have offered their own advice to the frustrated resident.

One person wrote: "That seems like his goal is to drive you insane and anytime you react, he’s having a ball laughing away at you."

While another stated: "My only advice is to get loop earplugs and soundproofing for your ceiling."
