Ubisoft's XDefiant beta could be extended following server issues, that's according to the game's executive producer Mark Rubin.

Ubisoft's XDefiant beta is going pretty well, and players seem to be enjoying it more than a usual Ubisoft affair. However, its popularity has come with the downside of some unexpected server issues on all platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. There have been various hotfixes deployed, but due to these issues, there are talks of the beta period potentially being extended past its original Monday, April 24 end date.

XDefiant executive producer Mark Rubin took to his Twitter account earlier this week to comment on the server issues, and was quite open about the fact that the closed beta period could be extended, but stopped short of confirming it.

Rubin said: "If all goes well and the servers finally gain some stability then I think we should look at extending the Beta but I have to see what that would mean for team."

While this isn't a confirmation of the beta being extended, considering the popularity of this beta is a rare bit of positive sentiment for Ubisoft, I wouldn't be surprised if this beta extension comes to pass. The XDefiant beta has been pretty positively received, even drawing comparisons to Call of Duty, although, in our impressions piece, we thought that it felt more like Valorant than the FPS giant. We also live-streamed the beta over on our YouTube channel, so you can check out the gameplay for yourself before downloading.

As it stands right now, The XDefiant closed beta is open now and will run until Monday, April 24 at 7am BST / 2am EDT and Sunday, April 23 at 11PM PDT. If you haven't managed to get access to the beta yet, don't worry, there's still time to get an invite. Simply sign up via the Ubisoft XDefiant beta website and wait patiently by your inbox, or watch select XDefiant streams on Twitch with drops enabled.

XDefiant doesn't currently have a release date, but we know that it will be a free-to-play, arena-based FPS game that will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and the Amazon Luna cloud streaming service, although the closed beta is restricted to current-gen consoles and PC only.
