Aaron Carter's cause of death has now been revealed, but his family have been left "asking more questions" as mystery still remains about the run-up to the tragic incident.

According to the autopsy report, which was released on Tuesday, the singer drowned in his bathtub at the age of 34 after taking a concoction of drugs.

It's said he had taken alprazolam, a generic version of Xanax, and inhaled compressed difluoroethane, which is a propellant used in cans of compressed air.

The report said Aaron had become "incapacitated while in the bathtub due to the effects" of the drugs. This resulted in him slipping underneath the bathwater and drowning.

However, Aaron's fiancée Melanie Martin has spoken out about the results and said they have not brought her closure.

"It claims death is by drowning but also adds he was wearing a t-shirt and necklace in the bathtub which doesn't make sense, why would he be in a bathtub with clothes on?" she asked.

Speaking to TMZ, she said: "I am still in shock and still miss Aaron every day. I don’t understand the chain of events and this report only has us asking more questions."

Melanie said she is thinking about having Aaron's body examined for a second time to try and give her "peace of mind and closure".

She believes Aaron "would not want no stone unturned".

Melanie previously told the publication there had been a text exchange on Aaron's phone that indicated he owed someone $800 (£640) for an unknown substance.

She said that she had passed the exchange to authorities for further investigation.

Aaron's mother, Jane, has also urged the police to open up a more thorough investigation into her son's death and suspects there could have been foul play.

Sharing photos of Aaron's death scene on Facebook, the grieving mum said she wanted to post the photos "because the coroner wrote it off as an accidental drug overdose".

"They never investigated it as a possible crime scene because of his addiction past," she added.

"Look at the photos. They were not taken by the police. But they allowed people to go in and out."

Aaron's former representatives Kelly K and Holly Davidson also believes questions still need to be answered surrounding Aaron's death.

They have claimed the singer was with two people in his home in the run-up to his death on November 5, 2022.

Speaking of the findings, Kelly and Holly said they are glad the case is finally closed so they can "have a celebration of life and send him off to rest".

However, they insist there are still issues that need to be looked into.

"We know two people were at his house leading up to his death and are puzzled as to why those two haven’t been properly identified and/or investigated," they continued to tell Page Six.

The Mirror has contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, who conducted the investigation into Aaron's death, for comment.

While speculation still seems to surround the moments prior to Aaron's death, police had previously ruled out any "foul play".

On March 2, the department told Rolling Stone magazine: "Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the death of Aaron Carter.

"To date, there has been no evidence of foul play found during the investigation. The results of Mr Carter’s autopsy are still pending. The investigation remains ongoing."
