Emmerdale star undergoes surgery for brain aneurysm as she gives health update
Emmerdale star Martelle Edinborough has undergone brain surgery - as she issued a health update to fans.
The actress - who plays Suzy on the ITV soap - has revealed she is recovering well after having surgery on an existing brain aneurysm. Taking to social media, Martelle thanked fans for their support as she shared how "blessed" she was to be recovering well.
Detailing what happened, she explained she was initially in shock before seeing the late diagnosis as a blessing, rather than be filled with fear, anxiety and stress, and has now successfully had her aneurysm treated and is recovering well.

She plays Suzy on the ITV soap (ITV)She wrote: "A few weeks ago I was told an existing brain aneurysm thought to always be tiny & stable had in fact always been of a size that needed treatment. Not sure where the error occurred for it to take so long to highlight this but despite the initial shock, I could only receive it as a blessing & refused to allow it manifest into fear, stress & anxiety.
"Yesterday, I had surgery where Dr’s were able to amazingly & successfully treat the aneurysm, placing a flow diverter in the artery to cut the off the blood supply to it, soon enabling it disappear for good!"

She added: "This is me post surgery. Peace signs at the readyyy! I can’t tell you how happy & blessed I felt/feel right now! Massive, MASSIVE thank you to all the incredible @NHSuk Dr’s, nurses & support staff, you are Amazing! & I am TRULY grateful to you all."
Martelle says she'll be back on the soap soon (ITV)One fan took to Twitter to wish her luck, writing: "You are a superwoman. I am so happy you got treatment and your mindset is to be admired. Be more Martelle. Good luck in recovery. So happy to have worked with you. Get well soon."
Confirming she'd be back on the soap soon, she replied: "haha Thanks so much lovely, I go home today. Just got to get plenty of rest for a couple of weeks then I’ll be back at it," as others rushed to wish her well.
"I’m delighted to hear everything went so well. Wishing you good health and lots of love," another penned.
Martelle has had some key storylines on the soap recently, supporting Leyla as she took on her drug dealer Callum.
Speaking about being on the show, she said previously: "I'm absolutely loving being part of the team. I grew up on Emmerdale so it’s a real honour to be in it, especially during its 50th year of being on our screens!"
