Love Is Blind bosses have addressed claims from a former contestant that claimed they weren't offered "mental health support."

The show which started in 2020 follows singles who try to find a match and fall in love without ever seeing each other face-to-face, in an attempt to conquer physical attraction with emotional connection.

Past contestants have come forward to share their experiences of being on the show, with many claiming that they felt they weren't "supported" after the show ended.

Kinetic Content, who produce the show have responded to the accusations and explained that "rigorous protocols" are in place for the stars of the show.

"The wellbeing of our participants is of paramount importance to Kinetic. We have rigorous protocols in place to care for each person before, during, and after filming," they said in a statement for the Mail Online.

Danielle Ruhl appeared on the second season of Love Is Blind and married Nick Thompson, but the pair soon divorced a year later.

Speaking of her time on the reality TV show, she said that she had a psychological screening before filming, but felt like she shouldn’t have passed it.

"I kept telling them, 'I don’t trust myself. I’ve tried committing suicide before. I’m having suicidal thoughts. I don’t think I can continue in this.'

"I literally begged for help, and I didn’t get it. Like, I want to fix my marriage that you’ve thrust us into for profit. And it was nothing," she added.

In an article for Insider, another contestant, Kelly Chase, explained that she was "surprised" that there were no mental health professionals available to the contestants.

"I was surprised no mental-health professionals were available to me during or after filming or once the show aired, especially since the experience was emotionally charged," she wrote.

"During filming, emotions were high because of intense interviews and the pressure to get married. After we wrapped, I had mixed emotions about my relationship with Kenny and the connections I made with other cast members and production getting taken away in a matter of moments.

Kelly added: "And when the show aired, emotions were high because of fan reactions. I can't speak for the rest of the cast and I'm not sure if this has changed since I filmed the show in 2018, but I had expected to have professionals on-site to help us through any big or little traumas that surfaced or new anxieties and fears triggered by filming or the experiment.

"Regardless, I'd encourage any production set to have on-site mental-health professionals," she ended.
