Ubisoft has launched a closed beta for its upcoming FPS title XDefiant, there's a few ways to get into the beta, we've got you covered.

Almost two years after its announcement, Ubisoft has launched the first closed beta test for the upcoming FPS arena shooter XDefiant which pits factions from various Ubisoft titles against each other in team-based multiplayer matches. XDefiant takes on the fast-paced gameplay from Call of Duty mixed with class-based hero shooters like Overwatch and Valorant, by giving players their own unique skills to give them the advantage on the battlefield. The game currently features factions from three Tom Clancy titles. Ghost Recon Phantoms, The Division, and Splinter Cell, as well as two Ubisoft originals, Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs 2.

The XDefiant closed beta went live last week, and will run until Monday, April 24 at 7am BST / 2am EDT and Sunday, April 23 at 11PM PDT. The beta is only available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, the full game is also set to launch on Amazon Luna, PS4, and Xbox One. There are currently a couple of ways to get into the XDefiant beta, we'll give you the full rundown below.

How to get the XDefiant beta

Currently, there are a couple of ways to get into the XDefiant beta, the first being a sign up sheet on Ubisoft's website to see if you're lucky enough to bag a code. Here's how to do that:

  • Go to the Ubisoft XDefiant beta website
  • Click the "check your status" button
  • Log in with your Ubisoft account details
  • Choose which platform you want the code for (make sure you have your Xbox or PlayStation account linked to your Ubisoft account)
  • Check your emails for an XDefiant beta code

However, if you're not lucky enough to receive a code, there is another method that will guarantee you access to the XDefiant closed beta.

Ubisoft has partnered with Twitch to offer XDefiant beta access as a part of the Twitch Drops program. This way you're guaranteed access to the XDefiant Beta, plus you can get some extra in-game goodies this way too.

  • Link your Ubisoft account to your Twitch account
  • Go on Twitch and search up XDefiant
  • Look for a stream with the "Drops Enabled" tag.
  • Watch 30 minutes of the stream
  • Check your Twitch inventory and claim your XDefiant Beta code
  • Check the email associated with your Ubisoft account and follow the instructions within
  • Watch a further 30 minutes to get 'Violet' weapon skins for the D50 and the MK 20 SSR in your Twitch inventory

It's that easy! You don't even need to sit and watch the stream, you can have it open in another tab. However, watch time for the Twitch drops wont accrue if you have the stream muted, so just make sure you pick someone you're happy to listen to for 30 minutes.

And that's you, once you've redeemed your code and downloaded the game you're free to play XDefiant – as long as the servers are up, of course, as there's been some occasional downtime since the beta launched. You'll have access all the way until Monday, April 24 at 7am BST / 2am EDT and Sunday, April 23 at 11PM PDT, so make the most of it!
