Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has got his own back on Rob McElhenney 's birthday gesture by releasing a song for his special day.

Reynolds and McElhenney continue to share one of the best bromances in football, and their interactions have become extremely popular among supporters. While they're hugely popular in the town of Wrexham, football fans from around the world can't help but appreciate their hilarious chemistry.

Back in October, McElhenney installed a life-size replica of Reynolds' face for his birthday at The Racecourse Ground, with players coming out the tunnel through his mouth. But now Reynolds has got his own back, with a song and music video centred around how to pronounce the name 'McElhenney' following repeated incorrect attempts in the media.

The Hollywood stars have turned Wrexham around since taking over the club in 2021, and they're now just four games away from the National League title and a long-awaited return to the football league. Wrexham is booming on all fronts, and the owners are quickly becoming two of the most liked people within the sport.

Following McElhenney's stunt in October 2022, Reynolds has been plotting revenge for his co-owner's birthday - but no one expected him to release a song of this magnitude. The song jokes about McElhenney's tricky name, and he's even called for it to be sung in the stands at The Racecourse Ground.

The song has been uploaded to Spotify and other major music streaming platforms, and a well-polished video was also released as Reynolds took the comedic song fairly seriously. McElhenney was shocked when waking up on his birthday, as he tweeted: "This is…. I mean… I don’t…. Wow."

Reynolds' birthday gift has already gone viral, as he posted the video on Twitter with the hilarious caption: "A birthday card might’ve been easier. Happy birthday, @rmcelhenney."

The Deadpool star even challenged Wrexham fans to learn the words, as he added: "Would be a real shame if this became @wrexham_afc Racecourse chant." But while a clear joke and also a friendly laugh with his co-owner, the song should also remove any mispronunciation of the name McElhenney.

Of course, while always on brand Reynolds ensured that Wrexham fans were involved in the video, with large parts of the footage taking place in your typical Welsh pub. Even new signing Ben Foster made a brief cameo, with a clip of him being tackled to the ground making the cut.

Now that a life-sized blimp of Reynolds has been put up and then a song made about McElhenney, fans are already wondering what could be next in their birthday battle. Reynolds' birthday falls in October, when they'll be hoping that Wrexham are playing in League Two.
