Drew Barrymore fans have been quick to praise the star for her vulnerable interview with Brooke Shields which went viral.

The actress-turned-presenter, 48, sat down with the Pretty Baby star, 57, as the pair shared their experiences of feeling exploited in the industry from a young age.

The duo both burst onto the scene as child stars in hit movies and their emotional interview quickly went viral.

Shared to Drew's show - The Drew Barrymore Show - on Twitter and was quickly shared across a number of channels with over 8million views.

At one point in the chat, Drew asked her fellow actress if her childhood experiences affected how she felt when the #MeToo movement gained traction six years ago in 2017.

The pair were seen to get visibly emotional after Drew said: "This is gonna seem like a very weird turn. But how did you feel about the Me Too movement, in the sense of, I didn't feel like I had a dog in that race."

Drew continued: "I didn't feel like I could speak to it, because I experienced things that were so inappropriate at such a young age. ... We were children. How did that movement affect you? Did you feel like you could speak to it?"

Brooke admitted she felt similarly as she didn't know where she "fell on the spectrum". She also added she had found it difficult to interpret her own experiences.

"I was made to feel culpable, but at the same time you victim-shame yourself," Brooke said as Drew nodded in agreement.

"We were so young and it was so 'appropriate'. I couldn't feel sorry. I didn't even know. I didn't know what it was. I didn't know."

Fans were quick to share their appreciation with how open the stars were. One user on Twitter wrote: "I really hope someone close to @DrewBarrymore and @BrookeShields are letting them know that NONE of it was their fault or responsibility. They were children."

Another added: "Healing happens when you least expect it, all ages, all stages of life no matter how much you think you’ve grown. Im happy for these two."

And a third said: "Thank you both for sharing so much of your lives with us. The impact you’ve made by sharing your stories is greater than you realize."

A fourth praised Drew for her body language, writing: "Drew is a revelation. Look at how she centers Brooke, connects with her, draws out a new angle of a years old conversation.

"She does it in a way that doesn't feel invasive. Truly, she's remarkable. This is a gift."
