Greg James has recalled the shocking moment he was told to 'shut up' by a driver, after he hit the radio DJ on the head with the bus he was manouvering.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg, 37, recalled the incident in a podcast interview in March, which has since garnered attention.

Greg explained how he was waiting on the pavement to get on the public transport before he was knocked on the head by the vehicle.

After confronting the driver, Greg revealed he was told to "shut up".

Discussing the shocking incident on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast, Greg joked he was taking the bus because he is "very down to earth".

He explained: "I got really cross at a bus driver once. I was waiting for a bus because I'm incredibly down to earth and take the bus."

As he stood waiting, Greg claimed the driver "swooped in so quickly he hit my head. Actually hit my head".

He added: "I was on the pavement. And I went: 'Mate, you’ve just hit me in the head with your bus!' And he went: 'Oh, shut up!'"

A shocked Greg then replied to the driver: "What do you mean shut up, you’ve just hit me on the head with your bus! Look how big your bus is!"

Elsewhere in the podcast, Greg admitted he gets "riled at transport" and said he gets "quite road ragey" when cycling on the roads, too.

He explained: "I get so cross with cars. You feel so vulnerable. I have fantasies where I’m like, 'If that person gets too close to me and they stop at the next traffic lights, I’m going to go over there and kick that wing mirror off'."

Greg also discussed how he also has moments of self doubt when he gets "tired and stressed".

He explained: "Transport problems aside, the darkness comes when I'm tired, stressed and over-worked. I have really horrible moments of crippling self-doubt sometimes.

"But I think they're normal and it's good to talk about these things. There are times where I feel I can't do it.

"I wake up and think 'how am I going to do this show today? Am I any good? I've been doing it for ages, maybe I should be doing something else'."
