BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent shares Hollywood past in Oscar-winning movie

Sally Nugent revealed she once starred in an Oscar-winning film on Wednesday's BBC Breakfast leaving her co-host Jon Kay amazed.

The broadcaster explained she featured in 1981's Chariots of Fire as a child when a scene was shot locally to her.

Jon asked Sally: "You've got your own little secret movie past, haven't you?"

"It isn't very secret but I'm in an Oscar-winning film as an extra, it was when I was a kid, in Chariots of Fire," Sally replied. "When I was little, our primary school and everybody where I lived locally went to be part of the scene in Chariots of Fire when it was the Paris Olympics."

"But it was at the Oval Sports Centre, sorry to shatter that illusion for everyone," she continued. "I had a little costume and everything, I think I've still got the hat somewhere."

Jon asked his co-host to describe the scene so he could see a young Sally on the big screen.

However, she explained her younger self featured in a crowd scene and it was "very unlikely" her colleague would be able to spot her amongst her classmates.

Jon jokingly called on viewers to "freeze frame" the scene to try and find the BBC Breakfast star.

Seemingly trying to discourage viewers from completing Jon's request, she told the presenter fans "would never find" her.

Elsewhere on Wednesday's show, Sally admitted she "couldn't watch" as she and Jon discussed the day's newspaper headlines.

Fitness fanatic Joe Wicks landed himself in hot water after sharing a picture of his seven month old daughter hanging from a bar while the family enjoyed a holiday in Santa Monica.

As the photo appeared on screen, Sally gasped "I can't watch this," as Jon explained: "This is the Daily Mail's front page this morning featuring a controversial picture of Joe Wick's seven month old daughter Leni hanging from what looks like a pull up bar at an outdoor gym in Santa Monica in California."

"It makes me very, very anxious," Sally added and Jon agreed: "It has made a lot of people anxious, hasn't it?"
