Ariana Grande looked every inch a superstar as she showed off a magical new look, after urging people to "be gentle" as she hit out at body shamers.

The singer, 29, kept it simple in a black sleeveless dress and tights, while wearing shimmering make-up from her own brand, and elaborate pink and blue fairy wings on her eyes.

In the two photos, Ariana wore her blond hair down as she wore r.e.m beauty products, looking serenely away from the lens in one snap, and in another smiling with her eyes shut.

In the shared post with the brand, the caption read: "When your gloss matches your wings... [angel emoji] by @marcanthony783."

Earlier this week, the Bang Bang singer was forced to speak out after fans took to social media to express concern for her appearance after she stepped out to attend a jazz night with her Wicked co-stars.

Taking to TikTok, Ariana said people need to be "less comfortable commenting on people's bodies" as she said she has recently been compared to "the unhealthiest version of my body".

The popstar said: "I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people's bodies, no matter what.

"If you think you're saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever it is, healthy or unhealthy, big or small, this or that, sexy or not sexy, we should really work towards not doing that as much.

"There are ways to compliment someone or to ignore something you see that you don't like

"I think we should help each other work towards just being safer and keeping each other safer."

Ariana reminded people that there are many ways to look both healthy and beautiful.

She added: "Personally for me, the body that you've been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body.

"I was on a lot of anti-depressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy, but that in fact wasn't my healthy."

She said she shouldn't have to explain why her body looks a certain way, but hopes something good can come from her openness.

The singer continued: "You never know what someone is going through so even if you're coming from a loving place or a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they're working on it with.

"You never know, so be gentle with each other and yourselves."

Ariana finished by telling her fans they are beautiful.

"Sending you guys a lot of love and I think you're beautiful no matter what you're going through, no matter what weight, no matter how you like to do your makeup these days, no matter what cosmetic procedures you've had or not or anything."
