Inside Ariana Grande's health woes as she issues heartbreaking statement

Ariana Grande issued a heartbreaking pleas on Tuesday for fans to "be gentle" after she faced body shaming comments.

The singer-songwriter, 29, was forced to answer questions online over her appearance following a night listening to jazz with her Wicked co-stars.

She took to TikTok to address the comments and urged for change. The Thank U, Next singer said people need to be "less comfortable commenting on people's bodies" and admitted she has recently been compared to "the unhealthiest version of my body".

Opening up on her past struggles, Ariana said she was on a lot of antidepressants and continuing to drink while on them, calling the period of her life her "lowest point".

The candid social media message saw the singer say: "The body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body. I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly.

"[I was] at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy, but that in fact wasn’t my healthy."

She continued: "I know I shouldn’t have to explain that. But I do feel like maybe having an openness and some sort of vulnerability here, good might come from it."

She went on to tell her fans she thinks they're all beautiful.

"No matter what you’re going through. No matter what weight, no matter how you like to do your makeup these days, no matter what cosmetic procedures you’ve had or not or anything," she said.

Ariana had previously said her anxiety and depression was at an "all-time high" after she cancelled a number of meet and greets in 2019.

In another Instagram post at the time, she said: "Today has been an extra rough one. After a handful of panic attacks, I feel like the wisest decision would be to not do sound check party or m&g [meet and greet] today and preserve my energy for the show."

And in 2021, Ariana shared a touching post for Mental Health Awareness Month. In it, she said "healing isn’t linear, fun, quick or at all easy".

Ariana was also diagnosed with PTSD in 2018 following the horrific bombings that occurred during one of her concerts in Manchester in 2017 in which 22 people were killed.
