BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood mortified after incorrectly naming stand-in host
BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood was left mortified this morning when she accidentally called her co-star the wrong name.
The 60-year-old, who recently got engaged, was left red faced when she made a huge blunder live on air on Easter Monday.
The BBC weather presenter woke up the nation alongside stand-in presenters Nina Warhurst and Roger Johnson today.
They stepped in to replace regular hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay who usually sit on the signature red sofa to present from Monday to Wednesday.
The duo updated the British public on the biggest headlines of the day before directing the cameras over to Carol for a weather update.

Carol was mortified by her blunder (BBC)But the meteorologist got muddled in the moment and accidentally called broadcaster Roger Jon while she delivered the report.
As she handed back to the main BBC studio, Nina echoed : ”A little bit more sunshine towards the end of the weekend, thank you so much Carol,” before adding: "By the way, this is Roger."
She pointed out the blunder as Carol grasped her mouth in shock.
Carol was quick to splutter out an apology but Roger reassured her: "Carol please don't worry I've been called far worse. I'll take it as a compliment!"
She panicked: "What did I say? Oh Roger, my apologies, you're so lovely."
Broadcaster Roger made light of the moment, sharing his envy for his colleague's impressive facial hair.

Carol reassured him: "Oh well you're just as gorgeous" to which he replied: "Thank you very much Carol."
Nina was hell-bent on poking fun at Carol’s slip-of-the-tongue as she accused Carol of “back-peddling” after the honest mistake.
She laughed: "Back-peddling, you're just as gorgeous - Jon" chuckling beside him.

Carol’s blunder comes days after the identity of her mystery fiancé was finally unveiled.
She kept his identity mostly hidden from the public, having only referred to him by his first name.
But last week it was revealed that the BBC star's husband-to-be is fitness fan Steve Randall, who at 47 is 13 years Carol's junior.
Carol's fiancé split from his wife of 12 years Nichola Randall and the mother of their teenage son in 2017 while the weather presenter was divorced from her husband of 18 years, Jimmy Kirkwood in 2008.
Mr Randall is a police officer and dedicated runner, according to reports.
