MasterChef's Gregg Wallace addresses his 'feud' with John Torode after 20 years

MasterChef stars Gregg Wallace and John Torode have addressed rumours of a long-running feud between them.

Their on-screen chemistry is undeniable, with the pair are always laughing, joking and coming together to make decisions about contestants.

But BBC star Gregg, 58, has lifted the lid on a “dispute” between the pair, giving an insight into the rumoured rift.

Appearing on The One Show this week, John told hosts Emma Willis and Ronan Keating: "We have the best job on television - we go to work and somebody feeds us, it’s just brilliant.

"Every year, we get the most group of people and great personalities and this year the people are different, they are from all walks of life."

Emma then said: "It's incredible, 19 series [of the show] and still so many people are coming on."

Telly favourite Gregg then told fans: "And people still ask if we are really mates, 'Do you really get on because we heard you don't get on?'

"It's been nearly 20 years and I knew him 10 years before this, so we've known each other 30 years."

John added: "We've done 10 years not 19 series, so we are up to nearly 40 series, then you put professional on top of that and juniors, 19 years on TV, we feel lucky."

John and Gregg will be back on screen soon with a new series of their hit BBC cooking competition.

A group of chefs will try to impress the pair to be crowned the next MasterChef champion.

The duo have been the faces of the show for more than 18 years.

Gregg is known for his humorous approach to judging while John is known to be the harsher of the two.

Speaking to RadioTimes recently, the two hosts were quizzed on how well they know one another after working side-by-side for over a decade.

When asked who is funnier out of them both, John confessed without Gregg they wouldn’t have as much fun as they do.

The 57-year-old commented: “I mean, his jokes are s**t. But, every now and then he does come out with something very funny. It makes work joyous.”

Responding to John’s light-hearted swipe, Gregg replied: “I just constantly crack jokes.

“When John does it can be hilarious, because he’s normally in serious chef and judge mode. But I’m funnier.”
