There are few foods which are etched into British cuisine quite as like the humble Yorkshire pudding.

A staple on many roast dinner plates, most people would snap up the chance to enjoy a pretty pud slathered in gravy.

It's a classic for a reason - and many people argue it shouldn't be messed with. Iceland has raised eyebrows with its new take on the signature trimming, as it's launched a lasagne-filled version.

Iceland has a history of experimenting with its Yorkshire Pudding range but this one has really caused controversy as many foodies are baffled by questionable combination.

The new Yorkshire pud can be picked up from Iceland stores for just £4 and it only takes 45 minutes to cook up in the oven so you can just throw it in for your tea.

The product description on the controversial product reads: "Cooked Yorkshire pudding filled with minced beef ragu with cooked diced smoked bacon, layered between cooked egg pasta, topped with cheese sauce and sprinkled with a mix of toasted breadcrumbs and diced mozzarella and Cheddar cheese."

While us Brits love both of these foods separately, not everyone's convinced by the hybrid.

Taking to social media in response to the new launch, one person wrote: "I made my own last year and unfortunately yorky puds and lasagne just don't go together."

Another agreed and suggested it was "not exactly fine dining."

Others can't wait to try the new treat, as one wrote: "Just read that Iceland are doing a LASAGNE FILLED YORKSHIRE PUDDING and I WANT IT!"

Previously, Iceland has played around with the versatile Yorkshire pudding with a coronation chicken version.
