Rihanna says it's been 'impossible' to find work-life balance after birth of son

Rihanna has admitted it has been "almost impossible" to find a work-life balance after giving birth to her first child last year.

The singer, 34, and her partner A$AP Rocky welcomed their son in May last year. They have yet to announce the name of their baby, who is now almost nine months old.

Rihanna has admitted that it's been difficult to find time to spend with her baby and said work will always "rob you of time with your child".

"The balance is almost impossible, because no matter how you look at it, work is always something that's going to rob you of time with your child.

"That's the currency now, and that's where it goes, the magnitude of how much it weighs.

"When you make decisions on what you're going to say yes to, it has to be worth it," she said during Apple Music's Super Bowl press conference.

Rihanna is busy preparing for her upcoming Super Bowl show which will mark her first major live performance in six years.

She said it will be important for her to have her son watching her performance.

"To go on the biggest stage in seven years, there's something thrilling about the challenge of it all. It's important for the representation and it's important for my son to see that," Rihanna said during the interview.

She added: "That's a big part of why I want to do this show, representing for my country, representing for immigrants, representing for black people. That's a big part of why I wanted to do it."

Rihanna's 12-minute Super Bowl performance will feature her hit anthems including We Found Love, Lift Me Up and We Got It From Here, as well as a few new songs to surprise fans.

She will be the first performer in the rebranded Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show which will take place on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

Elsewhere in the press conference, Rihanna teased fans that new songs were coming as she said she wanted to "have fun" with the music, but admitted people will find the music "weird" compared to her usual sounds.

"Musically, I’m feeling open. I’m feeling open to exploring, discovering, creating things that are new, things that are different, off, weird, might not ever make sense to my fans.

"I just want to play, I want to have fun with the music," the songstress said.
