Unfortunately, you can't choose your neighbours - some households get lucky with the people next door and others really don't.

One homeowner has been sent an angry letter from her next-door neighbour regarding her 'stinking' wood-burning fireplace.

The woman, from Melbourne, has been told off for 'polluting' the gardens nearby and 'spoiling' the fresh air with her burning wood - they've called her 'ignorant' and expressed their rage.

Writing in fury, the neighbour even suggested that the woman should move 1,200 miles away to Queensland, so their children will be able to play outside in the garden without 'toxic' smoke in the air.

On the photo posted on social media, the handwritten letter reads: "Dear neighbour, have u thought about moving to Queensland?

"It's obvious it's not warm enough here for you that you have that stinking polluting wood fire burning all the time!

"It beats us how people can so blatantly pollute and spoil the fresh air for others?

"While you sit in the warmth all the other houses downwind have to choke & splutter on the toxic smoke u pump out, step outside and take a look at your chimney!"

The neighbour detailed her outrage at the previous weekend, when her family were unable to enjoy Melbourne's sunny weather due to wafting smoke.

"Last weekend was beautiful. Two glorious days that we'd hoped to spend in the garden with the kids... But your stinking smoke put paid to and instead we spent inside with doors and windows closed," they wrote.

The neighbour finished the note by addressing their long-term dispute with the woman next door.

"Word of warning…. Next time you b**ch and moan of another person's selfishness impinging on your democracy just spare a thought that your ignorance and woodfire has impinged on ours."

After all that, in case the woman was still unaware of their anger, the writer added: "NOT HAPPY!"

Angry neighbours sending handwritten notes isn't out of the ordinary - just this week another homeowner received a threatening letter about her kids' noise.

The controversial note caused a huge debate online with some defending the sender of the note, wondering why children live in that style of property.
