Phillip Schofield's friends are reportedly concerned he may quit television for good following his brother Timothy Schofield's sex abuse conviction.

The This Morning star's brother Timothy was found guilty of 11 sexual offences involving a child between 2016 and 2019, including two of sexual activity with a child, at Exeter Crown Court yesterday.

Following the conviction, 61-year-old Phillip released a statement to insist he "no longer had a brother".

During the trial, Phillip took a break from his This Morning hosting duties – with Alison Hammond and Joel Dommett filling in for the star to present alongside his TV bestie Holly Willoughby.

However, a pal shared concerns that Phillip may not return to his TV job.

"Can you imagine what he has been through, it is just so awful to see and hear it all come out," they told the Daily Mail.

"It was a concern that he might not want to put himself out there again. He must be going through so many devastating emotions right now."

However, a source from ITV told the publication he will be making a comeback to his hosting job.

They said: "Phillip is a much loved member of our team and we wanted to make sure we supported him, we are so happy he will be back where he belongs."

Following the guilty verdict, Phillip released a statement where he said he "no longer has a brother".

Phillip said: "My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected.

"If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family.

On Monday, Mrs Justice Johannah Cutts told Schofield: "I am not going to sentence you today, I want to know a little more about you, particularly the mental health problems you have spoken about at this trial.", reports DevonLive.
