Maisie Smith and Max George leave fans baffled with 'pregnancy announcement'

Maisie Smith sent her fans into meltdown with a 'pregnancy announcement' alongside her beau Max George.

The former EastEnders star, 21, left her adoring followers gasping as she took to her Instagram stories to share a deceiving photo of herself and The Wanted singer Max posing together while Maisie cradles her 'bump'.

Alongside Maisie, Max, 34, can be seen peering down at her tummy - which is covered with a love heart emoji - while he holds his hand to his mouth in disbelief.

Captioning the cryptic photo, Maisie penned: "We've got some really exciting news."

Naturally, fans of the couple were immediately certain that they are expecting their first child together given the nature of their post.

However, as excited fans scrolled to Maisie's next story, they soon realised what was happening.

Maisie removed the emoji from the second snap as she revealed: "I just had the best 5 course meal of my life."

Instead of being pregnant with an actual baby, the Strictly Come Dancing star joked that she was expecting a 'food baby'.

Their prank comes days after Maisie insisted Max is “the one" as she defended the 13-year age gap between them.

The couple have come under questioning over their huge age gap, but have consistently defended themselves against the criticism.

Max and Maisie became friends on the 2020 Strictly Come Dancing series before their relationship turned romantic and the pair became inseparable when they started dating last year.

The couple realised they’d fallen for each other on a cast and crew holiday to Portugal at the end of the 2022 Strictly tour last summer.

The Wanted star went public with the EastEnders actress in September and Maisie has told how she believes Max is “the one”.

“We have so many plans and I see so much of my future with him – stuff I didn’t even know I was capable of seeing. It still feels like the honeymoon stage. I don’t know at what point that ends, but we’re still there,” she explained.
