UK's oldest Westlife fan gets Facetime call from band member on 101th birthday
The UK’s oldest Westlife fan was flying without wings when she celebrated turning 101 with a member of the band who called to wish her happy returns.
Staff at Edna Warner’s care home in Woodland View in Droitwich, Worcestershire, threw her a special tea party themed on the band which landed 14 number one hits during their successful career.
But her big day got even better as staff managed to arrange a special call as well to mark the occasion, when singer Nicky Byrne was available to talk to her.
Speaking in the touching birthday message, Nicky said: "Edna, Noddy as they call you, happy birthday!
"I just want to take the opportunity to say a big hello and congratulations on reaching 101. That is simply amazing.

"I really hope I live a long and happy and healthy life like you have.
"Here's to the next 101 years. You get to 201. That is the dream.
"Have a wonderful party and hope you get spoilt rotten and you get everything you want.
"Sending all our love from the boys in Westlife."
On Facetime the 101-year-old told Nicky how excited she was, and made him laugh with her advice on how to live to her ripe old age.
Edna said: "Just behave yourself - and do as you're told."
Nicky jokingly added: "So, I just need to behave myself? Not eat healthy or anything - just behave myself.
"That is some really good advice."
In the run up to Edna's birthday, staff at Woodland View tried to arrange for the band to come and visit the birthday girl.

Lisa Dews, home manager, said: "Edna had an amazing day.
"Also, to anyone that's been following our appeal to Westlife to send her a video message as she is their biggest fan.
"Nicky Byrne from the band sent her a video message, and then after that, he FaceTimed her for a chat which she was over the moon with.
"You have all helped make her birthday one to remember."
