Pregnant woman dumps boyfriend over baby name row sparking awkward WhatsApp chat

Choosing a name for your baby can be really tough - especially if you've split up with the person who is going to be the other parent of the child. Usually, when you're with the person, you can amicably bounce moniker ideas off each other, but things can get a little tricky when such big discussions are taking place via WhatsApp.
One woman explained that she and her ex had broken up over an argument about names, and he thought she would deceive him and name their baby on her own. She was more than reasonable, however, and wanted to include him in the naming process - but she wanted a trendy name for her son, and he preferred traditional.
Even when she tried to meet him in the middle and combine both names together, he said none of the names she'd chosen were traditional enough.

The woman took to Reddit's 'Am I the a**hole' forum to explain that they still haven't chosen a name, because they're struggling to settle on one that suits them both.
The woman explained: "He messaged me asking how we should decide on a name and I said that we should just send names we liked and we could decide on two for his first and middle name (we found out it's a boy).

"Like I said in my other post, my baby name choices were all regular if not a bit trendy. A few of the names I sent him were Beau, Augustine, and Wyatt whilst he insisted on something more 'traditional', such as James or Samuel. So I suggested we name him Samuel Beau or James Wyatt. But ex said he wanted a full traditional name but that none of the names I sent were traditional enough.
"I told him he'd have to tough it out because I'm choosing at least one of the names for my baby whether he likes it or not."
People in the comments were quick to point out that the mum-to-be was being more than reasonable by letting her ex have input.
One wrote: "You're carrying the child AND you're not together anymore. You are really gracious to let him have an input on the name of your child, and this is how he acts? Wanting basically to name the child by himself?!?
"Also, Wyatt is pretty traditional. Call your kid Wyatt James, and as you are not together anymore, you might want to give your son your family name."
"LOVE James Wyatt as a name", someone praised.
Another suggested a less traditional way to decide the baby's name, commenting: "OK, try this: you make a list. He make a list. You choose a name from his list. He chooses a name from your list. Then you flip a coin to decide on a first name. No more discussion."
