Dario Sinagoga was knocked out after just 11 seconds

MMA fighter Dario Sinagoga was dealt a swift blast of karma during a recent fight as he lost his undefeated record within seconds following a fake glove touch.

Irishman Sinagoga, who is based out of Vancouver, was 6-0 heading into his bout with Ash Mashreghi last night at BFL's Canada vs USA card. The Bray native went for the traditional touch of gloves as he stepped to the centre of the cage, but quickly shot for a clinch in an effort to bring the fight to the ground.

However, Mashreghi saw it coming and quickly reversed the position, coming in with an uppercut that floored the Irish fighter. Sinagoga recovered well and was back on his feet shortly after, but was quickly put down again and the referee stepped in to call a stop to the bout after just 11 seconds of action.

The unbeaten Irish fighter had been out of action for a year after struggling to overcome a broken nose that cost him a fight at the end of last year. For Mashreghi, it was another victory after snapping a four-fight losing streak last year that brings him back to a winning record having entered the cage at 7-7.

Mashreghi was a former training partner of Sinagoga and insisted during the fight build-up that he had put the Irishman down countless times during their early careers while in sparring. "Me and Dario trained almost every day," he told the BFL YouTube channel before the fight.

"He was pretty green back then so we kind of beat him up pretty good and we were huge. I used to walk around at 210-215lb and cut to 170lb when we were younger. We were huge back then, so it was pretty rough for him. He used to show heart because we would drop him all the time but suddenly one day he just stopped going down and became super tough Dario and won a round or two."

The loss for Sinagoga draws the list of unbeaten Irish fighters with over five bouts down to just three in the professional ranks. UFC's Ian Garry is the clear prospect from the group at 12-0, while Caloan Loughran from Cage Warriors and Ciaran Clarke of Bellator have 8-0 and 7-0 records respectively.
