Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) received his marching orders on Wednesday's Coronation Street after he admitted to his son Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) that he knew Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) was Harvey Gaskell's (Will Mellor) brother.

After a terrifying gun siege earlier in the week, Damon was arrested after being set-up by Nick, who had been blackmailed by the criminal to run drugs through the Viaduct Bistro.

Nick was relived his family were no longer in danger but the youngster couldn't see past his father's betrayal and asked him to leave their home after discovering that he had been lied to for some time.

Nick turned to partner Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) for support but she said: "I think Sam should be able to deal with this in his own way. Maybe he's right, maybe we all need some space. I think you should move out for a bit."

Coronation Street fans have predicted Nick's absence will lead to Leanne seeking comfort elsewhere.

When Damon first arrived on the cobbles, many fans suspected Leanne would embark on an affair with the newcomer and despite his arrest the actor has previously teased he will be in Weatherfield this summer.

However, some fans suspect Leanne could be driven into the arms of Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) as the pair work in the bistro together.

The pair shared a heart-to-heart when Ryan was caught up in the siege as he tearfully remarked: "I'm going to die a waiter in Weatherfield. I'm going to die 10 minutes from where I was born."

Reassuring him, Leanne said: "Everyone loves you," and their closeness led to viewers speculating an affair twist.

One tweeted: "Leanne & Ryan. Possible," and another asked: "A Leanne and Ryan affair?"

Meanwhile, Damon star Ciaran has revealed Wednesday's isn't the last fans will see of the drug dealer.

He told Mirror: "There's loads of stuff to play with as he reconnects with other family members and their lives as well. As the year goes on, he's got this magnetic attraction for a notable high-profile female character on the show, who is going to have her head turned in a way that has very far-reaching consequences.

"I'm currently working on storylines for June and there's a build-up and then a colossal explosion in that story involving Damon and this love story that will be on air in June."
